NORCROSS, Ga. \u2013<\/strong> On Friday, May 23, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., First Senior Center of Georgia<\/span><\/span> (FSCofGA) will host a Memorial Day Commemoration to honor veterans of the Vietnam War.<\/p>\n As 2025 marks the 50th anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War, this event carries special significance. The commemoration will bring together Vietnamese American veterans and members of the Atlanta Vietnam Veterans Business Association<\/span><\/span>, many of whom served side by side during the war.<\/p>\n The gathering offers a rare opportunity for veterans to reconnect, reflect, and pay tribute to one another, while honoring the millions who lost their lives. It also reinforces FSCofGA\u2019s ongoing commitment to preserving their legacy.<\/p>\n Von Tran<\/span><\/span>, Executive Director of FSCofGA, emphasized the importance of unity and remembrance:<\/p>\n \u201cAt FSCofGA, we believe that, whether Vietnamese or American, we all share a common gratitude for those who sacrificed for freedom. We want to create a space where soldiers can connect, share, and heal. Let\u2019s remember together, express gratitude together, and build a future where their sacrifices are never forgotten.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n Mr. Be Ta<\/span><\/span>, a senior at FSCofGA and former soldier of the Republic of Vietnam, reflected on the meaning of Memorial Day:<\/p>\n \u201cWe fought for freedom and democracy. The people of South Vietnam must always remember the sacrifice of American soldiers. On Memorial Day, we honor the 58,000 Americans who gave their lives\u2014not only for America, but for the world.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n John Butler<\/span><\/span>, Chairman Emeritus of the Atlanta Vietnam Veterans Business Association and a Vietnam War veteran, spoke about the enduring connection between American and Vietnamese soldiers:<\/p>\n \u201cWe bonded for life fighting side by side.
