Vietnam War veterans, community leaders, and organizations gathered at First Senior Center of Georgia in Norcross to honor the Fall of Saigon, support Vietnamese seniors, and recognize decades of resilience and partnership in Atlanta.<\/h3>\n

Atlanta veterans, nonprofit leaders, and corporate partners unite to honor Vietnamese refugees, support seniors, and reflect on 50 years since the Vietnam War<\/h4>\n

WHAT:<\/strong>
On April 30, 1975, Saigon, the capital of South Vietnam, fell to the North Vietnamese Army, effectively ending the Vietnam War. This event led to the collapse of the South Vietnamese government and the mass evacuation of Vietnamese citizens. The North Vietnamese Army took control of the city, and the war ended with the reunification of Vietnam under communist rule.<\/p>\n

First Senior Center of Georgia will honor Vietnamese veterans and refugees who were forced to leave their homeland as a result of the Vietnam War. The Fall of Saigon marked the collapse of democratic South Vietnam as the communist North took over. This will be a formal event to mourn the fall of the democratic side of Vietnam.<\/p>\n

We invite media to observe this day alongside First Senior Center and the Vietnamese community in Georgia and to help spread awareness of the hardships Vietnamese refugees have endured to rebuild their lives in Georgia.<\/p>\n
